KIRKLEES YEAR OF MUSIC

2023

In 2023 we are supporting the region of Kirklees, UK on their 2023 Year of Music. We’re organising two key projects, as well running a year-long educational programme using our digital Music Cities Community.

Client: Kirklees Council
Aim:
For the first stage of Kirklees’ Year of Music we were tasked with organising a virtual showcase of Kirklees export-ready musicians to 12x leading global buyers.
Location: Kirklees & Virtual
Project Achievements:

  • We worked with the client to identify 8x local export-ready musicians.

  • We identified and confirmed 14x global music buyers (two more than agreed) that matched the chosen musicians. Buyers participated from 6x countries and included representatives from; Primavera, SXSW, VEVO, FIMPRO, Circulart, Sonic Unyon Records, and sonaBLAST! Records & more.

  • We provided briefs on each musician or band and each buyer.

  • We organised 2x virtual panel discussions, one on music publishing and another on artist development & management.

  • We organised one-on-one virtual meetings with each musician or band and each buyer.

  • We worked with the client to record performances from each band and to turn that into a live broadcast which took place over five hours.


Virtual Kirklees Educational Group

April 2023 - April 2024

Client: Kirklees Council
Aim:
To provide monthly virtual educational content for a broad range of local music ecosystem stakeholders, and within a private Kirklees group within the Music Cities Community.
Location: Online
Project Tasks:

  • Create and administer a private group for Kirklees in the Music Cities Community.

  • Create 24x educational content items overall, broken down into 2x items per month.

  • Identify global leaders to provide relevant expertise in live sessions.

  • Create content ranging from presentations, to workshops, to networking sessions, to panel discussions.


Kirklees Music Cities Forum

November 2023

Client: Kirklees Council
Aim:
Organise a one-off in-person half-day conference that engages local music ecosystem stakeholders and discusses the role that music plays in the development of town centre regeneration and the visitor economy.
Location: Kirklees
Project Tasks:

  • Organise a one-off half-day in-person conference.

  • Programme relevant content and speakers.

  • Manage speaker involvement.

  • Engage 30-50 local stakeholders with the conference.
