Job Opportunity: Temporary Research Assistant

Sound Diplomacy is seeking a Research Assistant to support the UNESCO project "Harnessing Southern Africa’s Arts and Cultural Festivals for Sustainable Development." This is a temporary, short-term role lasting up to 12 weeks.

For this role researchers must be located in one of the following countries: Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in researching the cultural, social, and economic impact of arts festivals across nine Southern African countries.
Help identify and engage with 10 key festivals.
Support data collection, analysis, and report development.

Ideal Candidate:
Strong qualitative research skills and knowledge of Southern Africa’s arts & culture scene.
Excellent communication, report writing, and project management skills.
Passion for culture and the arts.
