LIVE EVENTS AS THE CATALYST FOR SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
AND PLACE DEVELOPMENT

Sound Diplomacy partnered with Cunningham Consulting AB and Norrköping Municipality to strengthen the city’s live events industry as a key element of its sustainable place development strategy. This project, part of Norrköping's ongoing commitment as a UNESCO Creative City and supported by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, aims to position live events as a catalyst for social sustainability.

Our report provides strategic recommendations to help Norrköping leverage live events for place development, integrating social, economic, and environmental goals. The methodology developed for this project is groundbreaking, offering a comprehensive approach to measuring event legacy, with a focus on community impact and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Collaboration with local stakeholders and experts in the live events field was central to this effort, and the findings emphasize the vital role of Norrköping’s community  in being able to drive the city’s success.
