The Future of Memphis Music Starts Here!
We are incredibly proud to share the Memphis Music Strategy, a comprehensive roadmap designed to strengthen, grow, and protect Memphis’s legendary music ecosystem.
Developed in collaboration with the City of Memphis, Greater Memphis Chamber, consultants Elizabeth Cawein and Charles Seaton, and local stakeholders, this strategy provides clear, actionable steps to ensure Memphis remains a thriving hub for artists, industry professionals, and music lovers for generations to come.
Memphis has long been a global music capital, but as Mayor Paul Young put it, “When it comes to music, Memphis is the OG. Let’s build a city culture that exalts that.”
Memphis music generates $450 million in GVA and supports over 5,000 jobs. One of the city’s greatest strengths is the people who form the music ecosystem, from musicians and artists to producers and non-profits.The strategy outlines key recommendations, including:
Strengthening policies to support artists, venues, and businesses
Positioning Memphis as a global music leader while honouring its deep cultural legacy
Attracting investment to sustain and grow the local music industry
Revitalising Mud Island Amphitheatre and other critical music infrastructure
This work represents a significant step in ensuring Memphis’s music ecosystem remains a driver of cultural and economic growth.
We are grateful to everyone who contributed their insights, and we look forward to seeing this strategy come to life.
